Author Guidelines
Necessary Files for Submission
Authors are required to submit the following files:
- Main Manuscript
- Title Page
- Cover Letter
- Manuscript Preparation
Submission Guidelines
Manuscripts submitted to Expert in Science and Engineering (ESE) must be prepared electronically in Microsoft Word format (.doc, .docx, or .rtf) and submitted through the journal’s online submission system after registration.
The manuscript must:
- Use single-column, single-spaced format
- Use Times New Roman, font size 12
- Follow IEEE citation and reference style
- Exclude all author-identifying information in the main manuscript to ensure double-blind peer review
Word limits (excluding references):
- Original Research Articles: maximum 8,000 words
- Review Papers: 5,500–15,000 words
Authors are encouraged to use the official Stage-One Manuscript Template provided by ESE.
Units of Measurement
All measurements must be expressed using the International System of Units (SI).
Abstract
The abstract must be self-contained, free of citations, and not exceed 200 words. It should clearly state the purpose, methodology, key results, and conclusions of the study.
Manuscript Structure
- Introduction
Should be concise and written without subheadings. - Literature Review
Provide a critical synthesis of relevant prior studies, identify research gaps, and position the present study within the existing body of knowledge. Avoid descriptive listing of studies. - Materials and Methods
Describe methods in sufficient detail to allow reproducibility. Subsections may be used when necessary. - Results and Discussion
Results and discussion may be presented separately or combined, with appropriate subheadings. - Conclusions
Summarize the main findings and emphasize their scientific and engineering significance. - Acknowledgements
Acknowledge funding sources, grants, or other contributions. This section should appear before the references. - References
All references must be complete, accurate, and formatted according to IEEE style. Manuscripts submitted without references will be returned.
Authors’ Details
During submission, authors must provide:
- Full names and affiliations
- Email addresses
- Author biographies (for all authors)
The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all author information.
Figures and Tables
- Figures must be embedded in the manuscript and supplied at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (TIF, JPEG, GIF, EPS, etc.).
- Tables should be cited consecutively, include descriptive titles, and avoid vertical lines.
- Units must be included in column headings.
Equations
All equations must be numbered consecutively and clearly formatted.
Language and Writing Quality
Manuscripts must be written in clear and grammatically correct English. Authors are encouraged to use professional language-editing services or grammar-checking tools prior to submission.
Original Contribution
Authors must clearly state the originality and novelty of their work within the manuscript.
Plagiarism Policy
All submissions to ESE are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin). Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% may be rejected. Detected plagiarism may result in revision requests, rejection, or retraction at any stage of the publication process.
- Title Page
The Title Page must be submitted as a separate file and include:
- Full names of all authors and their affiliations (department, institution, city, country)
- Corresponding author details (full name, email address, and mailing address)
- Total word count (optional: number of figures and tables)
- Keywords (5–10 words)
- Funding information, conflict of interest statements, and ethical approvals (if applicable)
- Declaration of AI Usage, including:
- Purpose of AI use (e.g., language editing only)
- Name of AI tool(s)
- Approximate percentage of AI-assisted content
Note: ESE permits AI tools only for language improvement and readability enhancement. AI-generated content, data fabrication, or literature writing is strictly prohibited.
- Cover Letter Guidelines
Each submission must be accompanied by a Cover Letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief of Expert in Science and Engineering (ESE).
The cover letter should include:
- Manuscript title and article type (Original Research or Review Paper)
- Brief description of the study’s objectives, significance, and key findings
- Explanation of the manuscript’s relevance to ESE’s scope
- Confirmation that the manuscript is original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere
- Confirmation that all authors have approved the submission
- Ethical approval statement (if applicable)
- Corresponding author’s contact details
- Optional: suggested reviewers or exclusion requests

Expert in Science and Engineering (ESE) is an open-access journal. All published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
Authors retain the copyright and grant ESE the right to publish, distribute, and archive the work without restriction, provided proper attribution is given.
