Publication Ethics

Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication

Expert in Science and Engineering (ESE)

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal such as Expert in Science and Engineering (ESE) is a fundamental contribution to the advancement of scientific and engineering knowledge. It reflects the quality of the work conducted by the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed publications embody the scientific method; therefore, it is essential to establish clear ethical standards for all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Expert Insight Publisher, as the publisher of ESE, takes its responsibility for safeguarding all stages of the publishing process seriously and is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are independent of commercial interests, including advertising, reprints, or sponsorship.

Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief of Expert in Science and Engineering (ESE) is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published. Decisions are based on the recommendations of editors and reviewers and on the manuscript’s originality, scientific quality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope. The journal complies with applicable legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

Non-Discrimination

Editors and reviewers evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual and scientific merit, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political views of the authors.

Confidentiality

Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial board members, or the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used by editors or reviewers in their own research without the explicit written consent of the authors.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

ESE applies a double-blind peer-review process. Reviewers assist the Editor-in-Chief in making editorial decisions and in improving the quality of manuscripts through constructive feedback.

Promptness

Reviewers are expected to complete reviews within the agreed timeframe. If a reviewer is unable to do so, they should notify the editor promptly so that alternative reviewers can be assigned.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not discuss the manuscript with others or disclose its contents.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively and respectfully. Reviewers must support their evaluations with clear arguments and avoid personal criticism of the authors.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited and notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap with other published works.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and should not review manuscripts in which they have competing interests.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors must present an accurate and objective account of their research. Sufficient detail and references should be provided to allow replication where possible. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are unethical and unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review and should be prepared to do so within a reasonable time.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is original. Any use of others’ work must be properly cited. Plagiarism in any form constitutes unethical behavior and will result in rejection or retraction.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Manuscripts submitted to ESE must not be under consideration or published elsewhere. Simultaneous submission is considered unethical.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others is mandatory. Authors must cite all sources that influenced their research.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to individuals who made significant contributions to the research. All authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

Any unusual hazards associated with chemicals, procedures, or equipment must be clearly identified. Research involving human or animal subjects must comply with recognized ethical standards and approvals.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their work, as well as all sources of funding.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.

Expert in Science and Engineering (ESE) is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record and ensuring ethical publishing practices at all stages of the publication process.
