Publication Process
Publication Process
Expert in Science and Engineering (ESE)
The publication process at Expert in Science and Engineering (ESE) is designed to ensure rigorous peer review, transparency, and timely publication, while maintaining high academic and ethical standards. The process consists of the following stages:
- Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the ESE online submission system.
All submissions must comply with the journal’s Author Guidelines, formatting requirements, and Publication Ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors prior to further processing.
- Editorial Screening
The Editorial Office conducts an initial assessment to evaluate:
- Relevance to the scope of ESE
- Compliance with formatting and submission requirements
- Adherence to ethical standards, including originality and plagiarism screening
Manuscripts that fail to meet these criteria may be desk-rejected or returned to authors for preliminary revision.
- Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are evaluated through a single-blind peer review process, in which:
- Reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities
- Reviewers’ identities remain confidential from the authors
Expert reviewers assess manuscripts based on:
- Originality and novelty
- Scientific and technical significance
- Methodological rigor
- Quality of results and discussion
- Validity of conclusions
Reviewers provide constructive feedback and recommend one of the following:
- Accept
- Minor revision
- Major revision
- Reject
- Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ reports and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or Handling Editor makes an editorial decision. Authors are notified of the decision along with anonymized reviewer comments.
- Revision (If Applicable)
Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with reviewers’ and editors’ comments.
A point-by-point response to reviewers must be submitted together with the revised manuscript.
Revised submissions may be sent back to the original reviewers for further evaluation, particularly in cases of major revision.
- Final Decision
The editor evaluates the revised manuscript and determines its final acceptance or rejection for publication.
- Copyediting and Proofreading
Accepted manuscripts undergo:
- Copyediting for language, clarity, and consistency
- Typesetting according to ESE’s publication format
Authors receive galley proofs for final review and approval prior to publication.
- Publication
Upon final approval, the article is published online on the ESE journal website.
Authors receive a permanent publication link and their work becomes immediately accessible under the journal’s open-access policy.
- Post-Publication
Published articles are:
- Indexed and disseminated through scholarly databases and indexing services
